“Ms. Karen” (as her pre-school aged families like to call her) began piano studies at the age of 4, and continued intensively with piano through her early teens at Eastman School of Music. Her natural draw to music early in life also lead her to pursue band instruments, chamber singing, vocal training, guitar, music theory, and ultimately music therapy at SUNY Fredonia. However, her greatest musical triumphs have not come from these things alone: her greatest personal success has been learning to enjoy the art of making music, and helping others learn to enjoy that experience as well.
Karen has been actively teaching the Music Together® curriculum of music and movement since March, 2008, is currently a Certification Level I Music Together teacher and owns and operates Yellow House Music as a licensed center director. Using the Music Together curriculum, she now has a determined focus on finding fun and engaging ways to build Basic Music Competence skills in children of all ages: family group settings for birth to Kindergarten aged children, and peer group settings for school age children. She believes strongly that children learn through what she calls the three E’s: Exposure, Experimentation, and Enjoyment!
