March 7 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Instructor: Dylan Carlson
Thursday, March 7. 5:30pm-6:30pm
Stepping is a form of percussive dance in which your entire body is used as an instrument to produce rhythms and sound through a mixture of footsteps, hand motions, spoken word, and hand claps. Though stepping can be performed by an individual, it is usually performed by groups of three or more, often in arrangements that resemble military formations. In this workshop students will learn to use their entire body to not only dance, but create the beat they dance to and the audience hears. Students will learn the basic building blocks that go into an average stepping performance and how to work closely with others while executing those moves.
