A Note From our Executive Director

Hello Students and Families!

Our team of staff and instructors miss seeing all of you each week! We hope you are doing well and settling in to a new normal.

The Infinity Center is closed until further notice but our team of program staff and instructors continue to work remotely. Staff members will be reaching out individually to families regularly, and feel free to connect with us at any time. Email is the best way to reach us during the NYS on Pause phase: info@infinityperformingarts.org

At this challenging time, we are focusing on finding creative ways to keep students learning and teachers teaching! While in-person lessons are not possible, our instructors were amazing in their ability to transition to digital lessons. Additionally, I hope you check out the wonderful videos our instructors are working hard to create for you during this time away from the Infinity Center. See examples here:

The scholarship application* can be found here: https://infinityperformingarts.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/2019-20_ScholarshipApplication_Fillable.pdf

*If you are applying for scholarship due to financial hardship due to COVID-19 Shutdown, please also include a paragraph stating this.
New students ARE being accepted for digital lessons and scholarships are available for qualifying new students. If you would like to add something to your child’s week, our online registration system can be found here: https://infinityperformingarts.org/register/
We believe in the power of the arts to help sustain our community. We are inspired by the many ways we’ve seen our community help one another.
We’ll continue to be in touch with more updates. Let us know how we can help.

Wishing health and peace of mind to all,

Infinity Joins #GivingTuesday Movement

Jamestown’s own Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Center has once again joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

In 2019, Infinity celebrates 21 years of service to young people and families in the Chautauqua region, and is asking for your support in continuing their mission to provide music and arts education and performance opportunities to all students with a desire to participate.

Performing ensembles and workshops provide Infinity students with an opportunity to learn advanced music and arts techniques and practice soft-skills development in areas such as public speaking, teamwork, collaboration, and positive peer development.

This year’s #GivingTuesday initiative will raise funds to support ensembles, performance and showcasing opportunities, marketable skills training experiences, program and class supplies, and much more! Infinity’s goal is to raise $3,000 with the help of area supporters.

Occurring this year on December 3, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

Infinity joined #GivingTuesday to spark the spirit of giving in Chautauqua County. Last year’s initiative successfully raised $2,200 for group classes and supplies for Infinity students. This year, Infinity is hoping to raise $3,000 to support the 500+ students who attend lessons and classes at the Infinity Center throughout the 11 month program year. #GivingTuesday will kick off the campaign, and donations to this project will be accepted until December 31. All donations are tax-deductible!

Those who are interested in supporting Infinity’s #GivingTuesday initiative can visit www.infinityperformingarts.org or Infinity’s Facebook page to make a secure online donation. Donations may also be mailed to Infinity at 301 East 2nd Street, Lynn Building Suite 101, Jamestown, NY 14701.

For more details about the #GivingTuesday movement, visit the #GivingTuesday website (www.givingtuesday.org), Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GivingTuesday) or follow @GivingTues and the #GivingTuesday hashtag on social media.

Shults Auto Group Presents Infinity’s Annual Spring Showcase

Students from the Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Center have been working hard since October to prepare for this year’s annual Spring Showcase! Sponsored by Shults Auto Group, the Infinity Spring Showcase will take place on June 8, 2019 at the Jamestown High School Auditorium at 7:00pm.

Infinity students have the opportunity to practice and hone their talents through various performance opportunities at the Infinity Arts Café and throughout the community. Spring Showcase serves as the largest student performance of the year.

The Spring Showcase is a well-rounded evening of student performers featuring various music ensembles and soloists, as well as dance and theater performances. You will be amazed at the amount of talent displayed on the stage, and the amount of hard work the students put in to this event.

Infinity students have had the pleasure of working with instructor and area musician, Steve Davis, who has served at this year’s Artistic Director of the show. Steve has been a piano and drum instructor and ensemble director at the Infinity Center since 2003 and is also one of the original seven Infinity students!

Also working with students is Instructor Dylan Carlson who recently competed in the widely known “American Idol” national competition. Dylan is using his performance experiences to coach vocal students participating in the opening and closing numbers.

Area favorite Adam Owens will be the Stage manager for the event and coordinating the event this year is Infinity’s Program Coordinator, Kate Rinko. Kate says ”This event is so important because it incorporates every aspect of the arts disciplines we offer and involves so many students who work with a variety of our wonderful instructors!”

The cost to attend the Spring Showcase is $10 dollars for adults (seven dollars pre-sale). Children under 18 are free! Tickets can be purchased in advance from the Infinity Center, located at 301 East 2nd Street, Suite 101 in Jamestown, or online at www.infinityperformingarts.org/shop. Tickets will also be available at the door on the evening of the event.

Executive Director, Shane Hawkins, says “This event is a celebration of youth empowerment, talent, and the mentorship bond between our students and their instructors. It is one of our favorite Infinity events each year. Thank you to everyone who comes out to support the kids’ and instructors’ hard work!”

In addition to great performances by our area youth, Infinity will be offering the chance to win one of three gift baskets. This year’s prizes include $150 cash, $300 in gift certificates to area restaurants, or a $300 Value Grab Bag Basket. Tickets are five dollars each or four for just ten dollars, and can be purchased at the Infinity Center, online, or from any of Infinity’s board members.

More information about Spring Showcase, including a list of performers, can be found on Infinity’s Facebook Page. www.facebook.com/InfinityVisualandPerformingArts

Infinity Welcomes Two New Instructors!

Infinity Visual and Performing Arts welcomes two new instructors! Jim Blomquist (Sound, Audio, and Digital Recording and Production) and Vince Liuzzo (art) have joined the Infinity Team. Jim is currently offering private and group instruction in sound, audio, and digital production and Vince is offering private art lessons.

Jim Blomquist, Sound, Audio, and Digital Recording and Production: Born and raised in Jamestown, Jim began his musical career as a DJ playing at clubs and events throughout western New York and northern Pennsylvania. This eventually led to an interest in the production and recording fields, primarily within the Hip-Hop and R&B genres. In 1998, he was hired as a tour DJ/musical support specialist and worked closely with various Hip-Hop and R&B recording artists from Interscope, Motown, Island/Def Jam, and Sony Records. For the next 4 years, Jim was fortunate enough to tour the world, performing in such places as Germany, Africa, Jamaica, and the Bahamas, as well as many locations in the US and Canada.

Jim is proficient with various Digital Audio Workstations such Avid Pro Tools, Apple Logic, and most recently Ableton Live, which he uses for all current productions. He enjoys teaching the production techniques he has learned throughout the years, as well as sharing his knowledge of Hip-Hop history.

Vince Liuzzo, Art : “Vince the Tree Guy” is a Certified Arborist, chainsaw carver and longtime friend of Infinity and the Jamestown Community. An active event partner and fundraiser Vince and company at Sherwood Arts have raised thousands of dollars for local charities and community organizations through events and chainsaw carving raffles since 2017.

Vince is a partner at Tactical Tree Solutions- your friendly neighborhood Tree Guys – and uses the byproduct of trees removed to create one of a kind, made to order chainsaw carvings.

Vince incorporates his love of nature into subjects of his creations and enjoys working with various media including oil and acrylic, charcoal and incorporates fundamentals such as color theory, composition, figure and gesture, and 3D sculpture into his classes and lessons at Infinity. Vince’s unique background and approach creates and exciting environment for students where whimsy and creativity are the driving factors for student projects.
