Infinity Seeks Musicians for 15th Annual Local Music Showcase
Jamestown, N.Y. (May 15, 2018) – Infinity Visual and Performing Arts, Inc. is inviting local bands and musicians to participate in the 15th Annual Local Music Showcase.
Local Music Showcase is an annual event that raises funds to support youth music and arts instruction at the Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Center. The fundraiser, which is held throughout Downtown Jamestown, will take place on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Nearly 50 local bands and musicians donate their time each year to help Infinity. More than a dozen local venues will donate their space for the cause!

*EDIT* As of May 19, 2018, all available full band slots are filled. Bands may still register, but will be placed on a first-come first-served waiting list.
Forms must be received no later than July 1, 2018 in order to be considered for this year’s schedule. No late submissions will be accepted. The official performance schedule for the evening will be released on July 15, 2018.

Calling all poets and poetry lovers! The Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Center will be hosting, “Pulse Poetry Slam Open Mic Night” on Thursday, May 3 at 6:00pm at the Infinity Arts Café. Poets and audience-members are welcome.
Pulse Poetry Slam events are free, family friendly, and open to the public.
Performance poetry is an excellent way to express creativity while practicing performance and public speaking.

On Friday, April 27, 2018 the Jazz at Infinity Concert Series at 300 East 3rd Street in Jamestown, NY will feature Barbara Jean & Friends at 7:00 p.m. in the Infinity Cafe. The concert is supported by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. This is the second installment of eight jazz concerts to be performed in 2018 at the Infinity Cafe.
Beloved vocalist, Barbara Jean, will sing a variety of songs from the Great American Songbook. Classic standards to be performed include Oh, Lady Be Good, Young At Heart, Give Me The Simple Life and September In The Rain. Barbara Jean will also sing her original compositions Tell Me Your Name and So Long from her latest cd releases.
The band will feature Dalt Berringer on piano and Lloyd Howard on bass. I attached one of Barbara Jean’s recordings if you have never heard her before!
The concert is free and open to the public. Audience members can enter by using the former USPS door on the corner of 3rd Street and Prendergast Street.
Infinity will be hosting a NYSSMA Solo Festival Preparation Workshop on Saturday, April 28 from 10:00am-1:00pm.
Students will receive a private 30-minute lesson with an instructor, group scale/rudiment and sight-reading classes, and a chance to practice performing their solo piece for their peers and a panel of reviewers. This workshop will be led by qualified music educators, and will serve to help prepare area students for the Spring NYSSMA Solo Festival which will be held in May 2018.
Instructors for this event include: Cody Hiller (violin and viola), Mariana Mathewson (cello), Lauren Engallina and Patrick Becker (voice), Jim Torrey and Suzanne Fasset (drums), John Cross (woodwinds, brass), Sarah Marchitelli (woodwinds), and Rachel Selice (woodwinds), and Kyle Gustafson (brass). Jacob Swanson Hosts Vandoren Workshop at Infinity Center
Infinity will be hosting local educator and saxophonist, Jacob Swanson, for a free reed clinic sponsored by Vandoren. As part of Vandoren’s Arts Education Program, this workshop will help teachers and students alike better understand and use single reeds and associated products for clarinets and saxophones.
This workshop will be held on Saturday, April 21 from 10am-11am at the Infinity Center located at 301 East 2nd Street in Jamestown.
Participants will take part in a hands-on workshop that teaches basic trouble shooting, reed selection and maintenance, and more. Free reed samples will be available, as well as trial ligatures and mouthpieces.
The Vandoren workshop is free and open to all area music teachers, as well as area clarinet and saxophone students.

Music, art, dance, and theater students of all levels are welcome to enroll in private and group lessons! The Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Center will hold a new student orientation and intake session on Thursday, April 19, 2018.
Please contact the Infinity Center at 716-664-0991 to register for a session and reserve your spot today. Students may also register online at www.infinityperformingarts.org to be contacted for an orientation slot. Orientation sessions last approximately 30 minutes, including a tour of the Infinity Center and opportunities to meet Infinity staff members and schedule lessons.
